Eligible groups for the flu vaccination

This year everyone over 50 years old and those with long term conditions such as diabetes will be offered a flu vaccine. The vaccine will also be offered to children and pregnant women.

Children who are two, three or four on 31 August 2022 will be invited to have their flu vaccine at a Nexus GP practice. All other children will be vaccinated at their school.

We will be giving flu vaccines from 1 October to eligible groups only. Anyone not eligible that wishes to have a flu jab should book a private vaccine at a pharmacy.

If you receive a text or letter to say you are eligible for a vaccine then you can attend one of our walk in clinics:

Polio booster

All children aged 1-9 years old in London are being invited to have a polio booster vaccine. This is because traces of polio virus have been found in the sewage system in east London. Polio has not been contracted in the UK since 1984 and the risk to the public remains low however if someone contracts the polio virus this can result in paralysis.

Children who have missed some of their required polio vaccines in the past are being invited to make a nurse appointment at any Nexus site. Children aged 1-4 years old who all now require a booster are also being invited to now book a booster with a nurse at any Nexus site.

There are appointments on Saturdays as well as evenings and of course during the weekdays. You may also be offered an appointment at the north Southwark extended primary care service at Bermondsey Spa for your child's vaccine.

The vaccines being given are the same as the vaccines containing polio that your child will have already received. Children aged 5 and over will be texted to attend Guys and St Thomas' or Kings College Hospital for their vaccines.
