Peckham menDERS club

The Menders Club is part of the Men’s Shed Association. It is a creative space established by the men who attend. Its purpose is to provide a space for men over 50 to come together to meet up, to talk and share or learn skills in a Workshop environment. Menders was started by Age UK Lewisham and Southwark, following demand from local older people and with the support of a generous grant from the Big Lottery Funds Awards For All.

By providing this safe space, Menders help address many issues facing older people, such as reducing isolation and improving health and wellbeing.

Mind (Lambeth and Southwark) support groups

Peer support happens when people with a similar lived experience come together to provide emotional, social or practical help to each other.

In Lambeth and Southwark Mind, this means that people who have an experience of mental ill health can spend time together, connect, share experiences and ideas of what can help. This support can be helpful for all involved – those supporting can feel helpful, useful and involved and those being supported can feel less alone, isolated and understand that others have had similar experiences.
